Building Confidence and Resilience

Building Confidence and resilience

This course is designed for those that have dogs that may be anxious, frightened, reactive, skittish, suspicious etc of new things.

This course will help dogs that need to build confidence, however if your dog is suffering now, I would also recommend talking to a veterinarian with behaviour qualifications as well as qualified training professionals that avoid the use of punishers. Look for someone that has formal qualifications and is also a member of Pet Professional Guild.  I also offer skype/zoom consultations at an affordable rate, so can work with you remotely if individual training is needed.

Throughout this course we will complete several tasks.  These tasks may be challenging for some and not so much for others, however, as you work with your dog and they succeed, you will see their confidence and ability to bounce back from stress improve.

You can also read a little about building resilience here.

This course is designed to be completed over 6 training periods.  Each training period consists of a game/skill for management, a body awareness exercise, a trick, a skill for husbandry, a challenge, and various implementation of enrichment activities.

I would recommend each training period last approximately 7 to 14 days.  Each training period includes a particular skill, balance/coordination exercise, trick/game, husbandry help, a task to complete and enrichment options to implement.

Remember - it is not a race.  You will have access to the course for 12 months from the date of activation.

Some tasks will be simple for some dogs, and very challenging for others.  Please listen to your dog.  Work at their pace.  Build a solid trust account, and you will find that when you need to make withdrawals, the resilience in your relationship will be there.  CHOICE is so important.

To receive a certificate of completion - you will need to pay for enrollment for each dog you wish to fully complete the course.  If however, you have say 3 dogs, and wish to complete the course with all 3, but only receive certificate for one - choose that dog to upload videos for each time.  Or alternatively, if a certificate of completion is not your ultimate goal mix and match who you submit your videos with.

Your videos can be uploaded to the private Facebook group - use this group to share your successes and frustrations. Its quite normal to hit snags here and there.

For information on equipment requirements, tasks taught and payment method, refer to the online courses page here
