This course, will act as a guide and support while you work through individual struggles.
Every dog and owner will be at a different level or have different struggles, and that’s ok.
The course is $200 for the 12 weeks, making it more than affordable.
Depending on numbers in each enrolment the weekly zoom sessions themselves will be between 30 and 60 minutes.
With this course, we will also have our own private Facebook group where you can touch base with questions, wins and struggles.
During the first week of class I will deliver a presentation (approximately 60mins) that explains how I work with separation cases and sets you up to make plans before the next session.
I train using both traditional separation anxiety training techniques, as well as work a little differently through the use of concept training.
I would also like to introduce some scent work as growing optimism and confidence in our dogs can make a huge difference in their day to day struggles.
The scent work I would like to do is using red kongs. So, for this, you will need two red kong toys – one that is appropriate size for your dog to eat from, and the other that you are willing to “sacrifice”….. we will chop it up. They do not need to be new.
Dr Jacqui Johnston a vet with a special interest in behaviour and her own separation struggle dog, has also volunteered to join the Facebook group. Jacqui may be able to answer some questions regarding medications used in behaviour modification etc.
While this is wonderful, you will still need to have a consultation with a veterinarian if you wish to explore medication as an adjunct to the separation training or modify your pups current medication scheme.
Throughout the course, we will share wins and struggles. You will realise you are not alone in your separation struggles and will find support from myself and others within your class and Facebook group. You will also be directed to some podcasts to listen to, and have resources uploaded and available to you in the Facebook group.
This course is designed over 12 weeks - it is unlikely that your struggle will be completely solved during this time - as in separation training, an important thing to remember is that you need to "go slow to go fast".
